White Carnation Formal

March 31-April 2, 2006

On April 1^st, the East Carolina Chapter will be having its 4^th Annual White Carnation Formal in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The brothers will be traveling to Myrtle Beach on Friday afternoon, so feel free to arrive at your earliest convenience. We will be having a social activity with the brothers of Coastal Carolina that evening and look forward to catching up with our Alumni. On Saturday, the formal reception will begin at 8 PM and last until 11 PM. Dinner, dancing, and an awards banquet have been planned, and we hope to see an even better turnout than last year.

Campus News

East Carolina is now the third largest university in North Carolina, and construction across campus has constantly reminded students of this fact. There is a new dorm in construction on College Hill, and a new $55 million Health Science Complex is being built by Brody School of Medicine.

As spring has arrived, so too has the 2006 edition of Pirate Baseball. This year’s team looks to compete in both Conference USA and the NCAA tournament. Some home games this year include Virginia Tech, College of Charleston, NC State, Tulane, and Houston. Alumni Initiation

The chapter will be performing an alumni ceremony on March 26th. If you are an alumnus and would like to be a part of the final phase of the Delta Chi Ritual please contact the Chapter via Patrick O’Shea at (302)222-1869 or Mark Davey at (301)641-1391. This will cost $25.00 to pay for the alumnus pin. Many brothers from our chapter have not yet been initiated as alumni and would like to have a chance at being part of something special.

Chapter News

The Spring 2006 semester has started at a record level. The chapter rush, headed by Brother Brent Gilbert, attracted one of the largest spring pledge classes ever. Under the instruction of AMC George Bendler, the Alpha Delta pledge class currently has eleven associate members. Intramurals are in prime position for a run at regaining the Chancellor’s Cup. We sit in second place in our division and fourth among all fraternities. Feel free to check out our current standings at www.recserv.ecu.edu. During our main philanthropic event from last semester, Can the Van, the brotherhood raised over 450 pounds of food. This could not have been completed without the help of Thomas Alcock of Omicron Class and Hastings Ford. We also completed a walk with Delta Zeta for JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

We have a new website which is up and running, www.ecudchi.com. Brother Dean Flory of Gamma Class has dedicated his time and money into creating and maintaining a state-of-the-art website for our chapter. Over the past 4 years the chapter has grown nearly 400% and we are constantly beating expectations in every aspect of the college experience. Feel free to check out the website and keep abreast on all of the chapter’s current events. The new members are constantly stepping up and taking new roles, we are extending the road you paved for us, and are constantly preparing for our future brothers.
